Wilmer Hutchins High School Shooting: Active Shooter Reported at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas

Dallas, TX – April 15, 2025 — A major police response is underway following reports of an active shooter at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in southern Dallas on Tuesday morning.

The Dallas Police Department confirmed that officers were dispatched to the school shortly after 10 a.m. following emergency calls reporting gunfire on campus. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including Dallas ISD Police and Dallas Fire-Rescue, responded immediately to the scene.

Initial reports indicate that there are injuries, though the number and severity of those injured have not yet been confirmed. Authorities have not stated whether a suspect has been detained or if the scene is secure. The school has been placed on lockdown as officers work to secure the area and assist students and staff.

Parents are urged not to come to the school at this time. A reunification site is expected to be announced shortly for families and guardians. Officials are asking the public to avoid the area surrounding Wilmer-Hutchins High School near Interstate 45 and Simpson Stuart Road.
