Stephanie Krohn Decatur, IL Obituary – Macon County, IL — April 15, 2025 — Authorities have identified the individual found deceased following a structure fire east of Decatur as Stephanie Krohn, 55, of Decatur, Illinois. The Macon County Coroner’s Office confirmed her identity on Monday, following the tragic discovery over the weekend.
The Macon County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were called to the scene at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 13, in the 8000 block of Ridge Road, a rural area near Long Creek. Upon arrival, Long Creek Fire Department crews were already on the scene responding to a report of a fire at a residential property.
During the course of firefighting operations, first responders discovered Krohn’s body at the site. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The nature of the fire, the circumstances surrounding Krohn’s death, and whether foul play is suspected have not yet been disclosed.
The cause and manner of death remain under investigation pending autopsy results and a full forensic examination by the coroner’s office.
