Monash Freeway Accident: Chaos, Multiple Lanes Closed After Major Collision at Narre Warren

Monash Freeway Accident, Victoria, April 15 — Morning commuters on the Monash Freeway faced significant delays today after a multi-vehicle collision forced the closure of multiple city-bound lanes near EastLink and Narre Warren.

Earlier reports confirmed that three of the four inbound lanes were closed near the EastLink interchange due to a rolled vehicle, prompting a swift response from emergency services. As a result, traffic quickly banked up along the freeway, with motorists advised to divert via Princes Highway through Beaconsfield, Berwick, and Narre Warren.

At one point, only one lane remained open, with speeds reduced to 40 km/h and city-bound traffic queuing as far back as O’Shea Road, leading to delays of up to 30 minutes.

Authorities urged patience, with lane closures remaining in place while emergency responders and investigators attended the scene. The Department of Transport reported that their signals team was actively monitoring traffic and adjusting light sequences in the area to help ease congestion on surrounding roads.

UPDATE – 9:14 AM: All Lanes Reopened

In a welcome update, all three citybound lanes were reopened by 9:14 AM on the Monash Freeway between the Princes Highway and Narre Warren North Road, following the successful clearance of all involved vehicles.

However, heavy congestion persists, with delays still stretching back to O’Shea Road. Motorists should expect a 30-minute delay as traffic gradually resumes normal flow. Transport authorities have thanked drivers for their patience and cooperation throughout the morning’s disruption.
