Alexander Joseph Young, 11, of Whitman, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his devoted family.
Born on December 27, 2013, Alex was the cherished son of Eric Young and the late Kimberly Hood. Despite his young age, Alex lived a life filled with adventure, enthusiasm, and an unshakable spirit that deeply touched everyone who had the privilege to know him.
A proud and active Boy Scout Troop 22 member in Whitman, Alex embraced teamwork, leadership, and outdoor adventure. He loved playing baseball in the Whitman Little League and was an enthusiastic member of a youth bowling league at Timber Lanes in Abington. Alex had a natural curiosity and passion for exploration—he especially loved camping trips, family vacations, and any opportunity to be on the move with those he loved.
Alex had a special fascination with trains and luxury cars, with Amtrak journeys and Porsches sparking particular excitement. One of his most treasured memories was his Make-A-Wish Foundation train trip to New York City, a dream come true. Another unforgettable experience was his thrilling ride in his Uncle Charlie’s Porsche 911 during a trip to North Carolina, which brought him pure joy and wide-eyed wonder.

Alex’s infectious smile, gentle heart, and adventurous spirit made a lasting impression. He was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
He is survived by his loving father, Eric Young of Whitman; his grandparents, Kathleen and Donald Young of Whitman, and Patricia and Joseph Hood of Carver. Alex also leaves behind his Aunt Victoria (Hood) Tibbetts and her husband, Jason, of Hanson; Uncle Joseph Hood and his wife Kathleen, of Plymouth; and cousins Bella and Lucas, along with many aunts, uncles, and extended family members who adored him.
Alex was predeceased by his beloved mother, Kimberly Hood, with whom he is now reunited. Services and Memorial Information: Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Alexander during visiting hours on Wednesday, April 16th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary) in Whitman.
A funeral procession will depart from the chapel on Thursday, April 17th, at 9:45 AM, followed by a prayer service at 10:30 AM at Holy Ghost Church in Whitman. Burial will take place at Blue Hills Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree.
